PREPARATION:

The USPA AFF Proficiency Card:
The AFF proficiency card is in the back of the IRM or if you send us an email we will send you one
This card needs to be signed off in the required areas before the course starts If you are already an instructor you can skip the topics that are marked with a star (*).
The signatures are valid for 24 months so don't worry about starting too early.

Some numbers are signed during the course by the course director. This is all marked on the card itself and is pretty much self explanatory.

AFF pre-course:

SkydiveRatings has developed a pre-course program which has proven itself since 1993 to prepare candidates to be succesful in the AFF rating course.

Send us an email and ask for our Pre-course Modules

In the AFF pre-course you can

make practice jumps and receive coaching in the specific AFF in-air skills:

  • flying hard exits,
  • slot flying with a movingstudent,
  • reading the students body

           position

  • properly presenting handsignals,
  • stopping spins,
  • rolling over an inverted student,
  • assisting with deployment including pulling for the student.

The pre-course will prepare you 100% for the evaluation jumps. The course itself includes 2 practice jumps.

After each jump you will receive a recommendation from your evaluator.

If you like we can organize windtunnel training for you as well (Florida courses)

TUNNEL TRAINING

SkydiveRatings and Tunnelcoach.com work together to incorporate tunnel training in our pre-course. We have tunnel time reserved for every AFF course this winter.

Tunnel training has proven to be very valuable. It is a great learning tool for anyone.

Tunnel coaching has been especially helpful for tandem instructors who are a little rusty on their belly flying skills, freeflyers who don't fly on their belly too much anymore, problems with slow falling or just anyone who would like to add tunnel training in preparation for the AFF rating course.

The written test:
One of the requirements to pass the AFF rating course is pass a written exam
with at least 80%. AFF course candidates need to make the “General Instructor” and the “AFF Instructor “exam. The questions for this exam are in the back of the IRM, so are the empty answer sheets.
All candidates must complete the open book test prior to attending the course. A score of 80 % is required to pass the test. For those who show up without the test completed or do not score at least 80% on the first test, a 100 % score will be required on the test that is taken during the course

The course:

  • The course starts with one up to one and a half day of classroom.
  • Every candidate will be evaluated on ground preparations.
  • The first 2 jumps during the course are practice evaluation jumps. After the
practice jumps the “real” evaluation jumps may begin. (a maximum of 4 eval jumps) We offer AFF pre-course training prior to the actual evaluation jumps to get you to where you need to be.
